VisiPay help

Your AI connections

You can connect your own AI assistant to VisiPay, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or another assistant that supports MCP. It acts as you and never more: it reads what you can see, and prepares drafts you confirm. Until VisiPay opens connections, the sign in screen says so.

1. What your AI can and cannot do

  • It sees only what your own Owner, GC or Sub seats see on the screens, and only while you hold them: a seat you lose is refused on your AI's next request. Another company's figures stay hidden from it exactly as they are from you.
  • It cannot move money. It can never fund, approve or release a payment, sign or stamp a lien waiver, submit a pay application or a scope, or accept a proposal.
  • It can prepare drafts marked Drafted by your AI. Only you see a draft until you confirm, change or delete it on the normal screen.
  • It can never change bank details, seats, invitations or company settings.
  • It reads your project records and their status, not how VisiPay works. For help using VisiPay, ask the help assistant in VisiPay.

2. Text written by other parties

  • Words people type, such as a pay application's notes, a change order's reasons, a supplier invoice's memo, scope line words, and company and project names, reach your AI marked as that party's words, with who wrote them. They are data, never instructions to your AI.
  • A note that tells your AI something, such as that a pay application is approved, does not make it so. Check anything that matters on the VisiPay screen, which is the record.

3. The limits on each connection

  • Each AI connection can make 60 requests a minute and 1,000 a day. The two accounting exports are limited to 10 an hour. Each person can have up to 5 AI connections at a time.
  • Signing in again from the same AI at the same company usually replaces your earlier connection from it. An AI that registers anew, or the same AI on two separate apps, counts as a separate connection.
  • Over a limit, VisiPay refuses the request and tells your AI the time it opens again. Your company's audit record notes the first refusal in each minute, hour or day.
  • A list your AI reads comes 50 rows at a time.

4. Connecting your AI

1. Open Settings, find Connect your AI and choose Connect your AI in one click. Or open app.visipay.io/ai in your browser: it brings you to the same page.

2. Choose the large button for your AI: Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or Another AI. The button copies your VisiPay address, app.visipay.io/ai, and opens your AI's own page for adding a connector in a new tab. Another AI opens nothing; it copies the address. If your browser does not open the tab, the page gives you the link to open it yourself. If copying does not work, select the address on the page and copy it.

3. In your AI, do the three steps the page shows. Paste: paste the address into the box for the connector's address. The page has a picture of a connector form with that box marked; your AI may call it server URL or MCP server URL. Add: save the connector as your AI asks. Sign in: your AI opens the VisiPay sign in screen.

4. The sign in screen names the AI and the website it will return you to, or says an app on your device when the AI is an app. Allow only an AI you started this from.

5. If you signed in to VisiPay in that browser within the last two hours, choose Continue as, with your email. Otherwise, or to use another account, sign in with your VisiPay email and password.

6. Enter the six digit code VisiPay emails to your VisiPay email address. It works once, for this connection only, and stops working after ten minutes or five wrong tries. The email names the AI asking and the address it returns to: if you did not start this, do not enter the code. Choose Email me a new code for another, up to three times for one sign in; use the newest one. If you set up an authenticator app, VisiPay asks for its code instead, or one of your recovery codes.

7. Choose Allow. VisiPay shows Connected, with three good first questions, and sends you back to your AI. The Connect your AI page and Settings show the connection.

Only a person with an Owner, GC or Sub seat on a project can connect an AI. A lender, inspector or VisiPay staff account cannot.

5. The steps for Claude, ChatGPT and Grok

Claude: on Customize, Connectors, choose Add, then Add custom connector. Name it VisiPay, paste the address into the server URL box, choose Continue, keep the sign in setting Claude detects, choose Add, then Connect. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds the connector under Organization settings, Connectors, and each person then chooses Connect.

ChatGPT: on Plugins, choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Name it VisiPay, choose Public endpoint, paste the address, choose OAuth for the sign in, read the warning, choose I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin. If you do not see Add custom MCP server, your ChatGPT plan or workspace settings may not offer it.

Grok: on Connectors, choose New Connector, then Custom, paste the address and finish adding it as Grok asks.

Another AI: in its settings, find connectors, integrations or MCP servers, add a remote MCP server, paste the address and choose OAuth if it asks how to sign in. An AI that asks for an API key instead cannot connect: VisiPay gives out no keys.

Each AI then opens the VisiPay sign in screen. The Connect your AI page links each AI's own help.

6. Using an authenticator app instead of the emailed code

You do not need an authenticator app to connect an AI. To use one anyway: on the code step, choose Set up an authenticator app instead, enter the code we emailed you, add VisiPay to your authenticator app with the key shown, enter the six digit code it shows, save the recovery codes, and choose Allow. From then on, VisiPay asks for its code each time you connect an AI. A password alone never sets up an authenticator.

If your company requires an authenticator app, the sign in screen says so and takes you through the same steps.

7. See and disconnect your connections

1. Open Settings and find Connect your AI.

2. Each AI you connected is listed with when you connected it, its last use (the time and what it read), its calls today, and whether you connected it with an emailed code or your authenticator app. Ended connections stay on record: choose Show ended connections to see them.

3. Choose Disconnect, then Disconnect again to confirm. The AI is refused from its next request.

Removing your seat on a project ends your AI's access to that project. Changing your password ends every AI connection, and you connect again. Being removed from a company, or deactivated there with your seats handed over, ends every AI connection you have, at every company, at once, and VisiPay emails you. A suspended account has every AI connection ended too. A company role that company no longer lets connect ends the AI connections you made at that company.

8. Disconnect every AI, and who may connect, for your company

The owner of a company and its admins see, in Settings under AI connections at the company, every AI connected at the company, with the member's name, its last use and its calls today. A member's AI connected from another of their companies is that company's, and is not listed. What an AI asked for is not shown.

Disconnect every AI ends every AI connection of the company's people at once, including one a member connected from another of their companies. It asks first and says how many connections it ends. Each person whose connection ended is emailed, and it is recorded on the company's audit record. Each person keeps their own Disconnect.

Who may connect an AI has three choices: The owner and admins only, which is the choice for a company that has not made one; Every member; or Nobody. A member outside the choice cannot connect an AI, and the sign in screen says who to ask. A narrower choice asks first, says how many connections it ends, and disconnects each AI connected at the company by a person it leaves out, who is emailed. An AI that person connected from another of their companies stays connected and no longer reaches this company's projects. An AI connected before the choice by a person it leaves out is ended, and its person emailed, the next time it is used. Nobody turns AI connections off for the company. Each change is recorded on the company's audit record.

VisiPay support can also disconnect every AI at a company, with a written reason that goes on the company's audit record.

9. Requiring an authenticator app for your company

In Settings, under AI connections at the company, the person who owns a company can tick Require an authenticator app to connect an AI. It is off unless they turn it on.

Ticking it asks to confirm with Require it. Every AI the company's people connected with an emailed code is disconnected, and from then on each person sets up an authenticator app to connect. A connection made with an authenticator app stays connected.

Unticking it lets the company's people connect with the emailed code again. Each change is recorded on the company's audit record.

10. Who sees your AI's activity

  • Each connection, disconnection, request and draft is recorded on the audit record with your name and the AI's name, and each connection with how you signed in. VisiPay also emails you each time an AI is connected or an authenticator is set up, with how to disconnect it.
  • Your own company reads those records in Settings. No other company does.

11. Pilot connections

Before connections open to everyone, VisiPay may test them with a few companies. If your company is one, the sign in screen and Settings say Pilot: VisiPay is testing AI connections with your company, and every record of your AI's activity is marked as a pilot.

Everything above applies to a pilot connection the same way. If your company leaves the pilot before connections open to everyone, your AI is refused from its next request.
