Exporting a project's audit trail
The Owner, the GC, each Sub and an inspector on a project can save the project's audit trail as files: a PDF to read and a CSV for spreadsheets. The files hold exactly the entries your seat sees on the project's Audit tab, and nothing more.
1. Save the files
1. Open the project and choose the Audit tab.
2. Under Export audit trail, choose the From and To dates, or leave both empty for every date.
3. Choose Prepare files.
4. Choose each file name to save it: audit-trail.pdf, audit-trail.csv and CHECKSUMS.txt.
2. What the files hold
- Each entry as the sentence the Audit tab shows, with its date, the party that acted where your seat is shown it, and its details.
- Each entry's event number and its hash on the project's record.
- Whether the record verifies, as of the export.
- The Owner, the GC, a Sub and an inspector each get their own seat's entries, so their files differ.
- Each export is recorded on the project's audit trail with the hashes of its files, and no other company sees that entry.
3. Check the files are unchanged
CHECKSUMS.txt lists the SHA-256 of audit-trail.pdf and audit-trail.csv. Anyone can check both files with the command sha256sum -c CHECKSUMS.txt.
The screen also shows the packet SHA-256, which is the SHA-256 of CHECKSUMS.txt. Keep it with the files.
